AmigoCollect mobile application can record a location track in the device using internal or high precision external GPS.
1. Select a project to add a track
To start recording a track you must select the project where it will be stored.
2. Adjust the settings on your track recording
In the AmigoCollect app, press
Then, select ”start” track
It will display a sidebar of track settings to change default parameters before starting a record, you can adjust the following settings:
-
Name: here you can change de the default name of the track.
-
Time interval: to define how often a location point will be stored.
-
Distance: to set it between location points.
-
Required accuracy: to set parameters of positioning points with accuracy equal or better than defined in this field that will be stored. This value shall not be set below reasonable GPS accuracy, otherwise, no positioning will be recorded. For example, if the internal GPS receiver is used, the best GPS accuracy could be around 3 meters. If the Required Accuracy is set to 1 meter, none of the GPS points will be recorded. If the Required Accuracy is set to 5 meters, all the points with 3 to 5 meters accuracy will be recorded, but all the points with accuracy >5 meters will be ignored. If the user wants to record all the positioning points regardless of accuracy the value for Required Accuracy shall be set to 100 meters or more.
-
Expiration date: this is an optional configuration where you can select an expiration date on which the track will be automatically deleted.
Track settings
3. Record your track
Once the track settings are defined, press “Start a track”
A toolbar will be displayed to cancel, pause/resume and finish the track:
Control track bar
Also, you’ll see this button at the top-left side of the screen :
This button hides and shows a sidebar with information of all tracks recorded, including the one in progress (red-colored). When you want to finish the track, you can go to the toolbar by selecting the same track and then press “finish”. The track will be automatically saved on the device.
To make visible or hide the recorded tracks, you can go to AmigoCollect main menu and select “Tracks”
4. Add your track geometric values to a Dataset
Now we want to add the geometry of the recorded track to our dataset.
First, we should check out the type of geometry in the output dataset where we want to add track information:
- Point dataset: the geometry is stored in a single record, as the first point of the track.
- Multipoint dataset: the geometry is stored in a single record, that contains all the points of the track.
- Line dataset: the geometry is stored in a single record, as a line (resulting from the union of points succession in track).
- Polygon dataset: the geometry is stored in a single record, as a polygon resulting in closing the geometry in the first and last points, using the intern areas.
Then choose the project that contains both the dataset and the track:
Press
Then "new record"
Choose the target dataset and press
Select “use track” option
Select track, check out the geometry output, and if everything is ok, press “SAVE”.
